Sending E-mail using a
Gmail™ Account
Using a Gmail account to send e-mail requires SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), a new feature introduced in PDF-eXPLODE
Version 2. This Tech Tip explains how to configure PDF-eXPLODE settings to work with Gmail.
Connection Settings
- Open PDF-eXPLODE.
- On the Printer menu, click PDF-eXPLODE Options....
- In the Options List, click Mail Settings.
- Use the following table to determine the proper settings.
| Setting | Instructions |
| Sender Name | Gmail replaces the e-mail address specified in PDF-eXPLODE Sender Name
with your Gmail address. Gmail's custom 'From:' feature lets you use Gmail to send messages with another of your email
addresses listed as the sender in place of your Gmail address. To access this feature in Gmail, log into your Gmail
account and select Settings and then select Accounts and set Send mail as: to your desired e-mail
account. |
| Outgoing Mail SMTP Server | Enter: smtp.gmail.com |
| Sign-on Username | Enter your Gmail username (including @gmail.com). Google Apps users,
enter your full address in the format username@your_domain.com |
| Sign-on Password | Enter your e-mail password. |
| Authentication Type | Select Login |
| Port | Enter: 465 |
| Incoming Mail (POP3) Server | Enter: pop.gmail.com |
| SSL / TLS | Check the box next to SSL / TLS. |
- Once your settings are entered, click Test Connection and look for the test e-mail in your Gmail
inbox to verify the settings are correct. If you are having trouble receiving the test e-mail but you've
confirmed that SSL / TLS is selected, try setting the port to 587.
- Click Save.
- Select Exit from the Printer menu.
Additional Information
- Gmail places a limit of 100 recipients per e-mail when using an e-mail client such as PDF-eXPLODE.
